Dine-In or Take-Out

Every Wednesday 5-6pm

What is Open kitchen?

Open Kitchen offers a free dine-in or take-out meal every Wednesday from 5-6pm at Redmond United Methodist Church. But, it has grown to be so much more than just food: we welcome anyone who needs a meal, a warm cup of coffee, or a friendly conversation. At Open Kitchen, we strive to promote a sense of community marked by dignity and respect and to ensure that no one leaves hungry.

Open Kitchen has been in operation for over 10 years thanks to an amazing community of volunteers and businesses who graciously donate their gifts of time, money, and resources.

Our story

Open Kitchen has grown out of the belief that we are called to work acts of justice, especially for our brothers and sisters in our local community, in the hope of making a positive difference.

The coordinators of Open Kitchen - Jayleen, Kristen, and Shelia - felt a particular calling to fill a void in our wider Redmond community by offering a community meal and shared their vision with the congregation. They were able to tap into the passion for feeding the hungry that has directed many service efforts at RUMC, and Open Kitchen was born!

While we understand that one meal per week can't possibly begin to eradicate hunger, we believe that one meal means a child won't go to bed hungry that night, provides much needed nutrition, brings hope, and does make a difference.

Thus, the primary goals of Open Kitchen are to serve a warm meal, to promote a sense of community marked by dignity and respect, and to ensure that no one leaves hungry - in body or soul.
